Registered Massage Therapy
Pro Motion Physiotherapy is pleased to offer massage therapy. Our Massage Therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and trained to assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints of the body.
Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic testing, soft tissue manipulation (Swedish Massage), hydrotherapy, remedial exercise and client education programs. Massage therapy can be used for injury prevention, stress management and sports training. Physiotherapists regularly refer their patients for massage to assist in the recovery process. Commonly asked questions about Massage Therapy
Will my extended health care plan cover the costs of massage therapy treatments?
Many extended health insurance plans include massage therapy treatments when provided by a Registered Massage Therapist. Please contact your Insurance Company for information and also ask them if they require a Doctor’s referral for your reimbursement.
Do I have to take off all of my clothes?
It is important that you feel relaxed and comfortable. Therefore, you are the one to make the decision of what to remove. You will be fully covered with a sheet/blanket and only the area that is being treated is uncovered. Please discuss any questions or concerns with your Massage Therapist.
Will I have pain after a massage therapy treatment?
Most people report feeling very relaxed after having massage therapy. They often also experience pain relief. Some people have mild muscle soreness, which may last a day or two.
How long are the massage therapy sessions?
You may choose 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes. This is often dependent on how many areas you feel need to be treated. A full body massage will usually take 60 minutes.
Gift certificates for Massage Therapy are available and are a thoughtful gift for family and friends!
