We are Still Open and Getting through this Together!

We are open. There are not any changes for physiotherapy clinics and services with the new provincial emergency order. We want you to know we continue to remain open for in-clinic care as well as virtual care.

The Ontario Government allows people to go out for essential purposes such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services (such as physiotherapy), for exercise and for essential work.

Our COVID-19 policies and procedures remain very stringent. Patients who have attended our clinic comment on their confidence in, and appreciation of, all the measurements we have put in place to keep everyone safe. These include:

  1. Pre-appointment COVID screening
  2. At the door COVID screening for all staff and patients (people are not allowed to enter the clinic unless they have answered negatively to all questions).
  3. Designated entrance and exit doors
  4. Masks are required for everyone and must be kept on for the duration of the appointment and while in the clinic
  5. Hand sanitizer through-out the clinic.
  6. Physiotherapists are seeing one patient at a time.
  7. Physiotherapists have their own treatment areas.
  8. Full-time assistant to disinfect patient area after each patient
  9. Health Canada approved disinfectants and sanitizers exclusively used
  10. Patient chairs have been upholstered to medical grade material for disinfecting
  11. Common clinic areas disinfected regularly during the day.

Although the Promenade is not open for regular traffic, it is open for essential services. When you arrive for your physiotherapy or massage appointment, the security person will ask you where you are going. As you can imagine, there are very few people in the Promenade Mall. Please enter through Entrance #1 and just let them know you have an appointment at Pro Motion.

What we are doing to keep you safe

We want you to know what to expect when you attend a rehab session at Pro Motion.  We also want you to rest assured that every guideline and recommendation has been implemented because we are concerned about the safety and well-being of our patients and staff as well as their families. Our patients have expressed confidence in the measures we have put in place.

About Clinic Safety

  • This starts before you enter the clinic. Please see our new safety steps below:
  • When you book your first appointment in the clinic, you will be asked over the phone if you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms. Each symptom will be read to you. This gives you an opportunity to let us know if you have any symptoms and allows us to answer any questions you may have.
  • After your first appointment, and before each subsequent one, your reminder email will ask you, once again, to review all the symptoms and respond back to us you have done this. If you answer “yes” to any questions you are asked to call us so we can discuss, and reschedule, your appointment.
  • There is now a designated entrance door and a designated exit door with signage.
  • Upon your arrival, and before entering the clinic, you will once again be asked to respond to the COVID-19 questions. We do know you have already been asked this via email, but in consideration that there may have been a change since then, we always ask everyone to respond to the questions before entering the clinic.
  • Once you enter the clinic, there is a hand-sanitizer station for you to use.
  • You will see that the front desk is surrounded by Plexiglas to enhance safety for staff and patients. You can still see our great receptionists very well!
  • The waiting room now has restricted seating as we encourage patients to arrive at the appointment time and leave promptly after treatment.
  • Please come to your appointment on your own unless you require assistance or you are a minor. There are hand sanitizing stations located at the entrance and throughout the clinic. At the very minimum you should sanitize your hands upon arrival and at departure.

About Disinfecting

  • We welcomed Annie to our team a few months ago and she is responsible for disinfecting treatment areas and the clinic. She is also assisting with patient flow as we limit the number of people in the clinic. She will likely be the one to bring you to your Physiotherapist’s treatment area. Each Physiotherapist now has their own designated treatment area.
  • All disinfectants and hand sanitizers we use have been authorized by Health Canada and we have ample supplies.
  • Our staff has been trained on enhanced infection control measures.  Processes and procedures are in place to make sure all the equipment and spaces you use have been disinfected prior to your use.
  • In addition, common areas of the clinic are disinfected several times throughout the day. The staff have a detailed list of all surfaces that need to be disinfected.

About Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • We ask all patients to arrive with a face mask. If you do not have a face mask one will be provided to you. Please note: you will not be allowed in the clinic if you do not have a face mask. If you are not able to wear a mask, then we recommend virtual appointments. We are happy to set those up for you.
  • Your therapist will also be wearing a mask
  • Depending on your specific treatment, the therapist may wear gloves, a mask and/or a face shield. If you are uncomfortable with the level of PPE’s your therapist is using, please do not hesitate to talk to them about this. All staff have gone through training provided by public health on proper hand sanitizing and the proper use PPE’s.

About Contact Tracing

  • Anyone entering the clinic is required to provide their name and contact telephone number.  As our patient, we already have that information.

About Payment

  • We are happy to bill your insurance company if they allow direct billing. Please talk to us about that.
  • To reduce the amount of contact we ask that payments to be made using a credit or debit card.
  • You will also have the option of paying electronically via email.
  • We recommend that we send you an email copy of your receipt.

The Pro Motion Physiotherapy team realizes that these necessary changes require an adjustment for our patients.  However, they are necessary so we can provide you with the safest possible environment for your rehab treatment.

We have been preparing to see you!

We have been very busy getting the clinic ready for you while  we waited for the Government of Ontario and our Regulatory Colleges to tell us when that would be. When we received the news we could open: we were ready to see you. We have been diligent in physically preparing the clinic as well as setting policies and procedures in place.

Our staff and patients’ health and safety is to be our utmost concern. Over the past month, Pro Motion Physiotherapy has continued to keep our high standard of infection control and has incorporated numerous measures such as individual screening before entering the clinic based on specific questions, cancelling all group exercise classes,  increasing frequency of cleaning and asking patients to arrive at appointment times and not earlier.
We continue to be open to provide assessment and treatments. We also continue to monitor Government updates and directives as well as those of our Regulatory Colleges.
